Creating a patient specific 3D Model of the ACL using open source imaging software
Open source software 3D slicer was used to develop a 3D model of the students knee and anterior cruciate ligament (ACL).
In house 3D printing technology was used to fabricate the 3D model. The below poster explains the process of this project.

Investigation into the viability of manufacturing a cast using 3D Printing Technology
The student investigated the viability of a 3D printed cast manufactured using a desktop printer. Several designs were investigated but once the final design was determined, Creo was used to draw the prototype.
The 3D model was then printed and manufacturing and cost analysis was carried out.
This project won 1st prize at the GMIT poster competition awards 2021 in the mechanical engineering biomedical stream category. Well done Alan!
